JOURNEY TO RESILIENCE
SHOWCASE OF ACHIEVEMENTS
The structure accommodates an art gallery which briefs the timeline of the Gateway of India and the events that prevailed along with the architectural styles adopted onto the character of MUMBAI
A CALL TO CELEBRATE
Observation deck provides a better viewing experience of Gateway Of India for visitors
The urban insert is planned as a space for reflection on India’s past and contemplating the future. This insert is conceived as an art gallery cum viewing deck, where-in the exhibits in the gallery are inspired by the rich history, cultural heritage and trace Mumbai’s architectural past. The viewing deck is a platform for ‘visual immersion’ and interaction that serves as a space for social gatherings with the Gateway of India as a back-drop.
The concept is inspired from the city’s resilience in the past: weathering multiple challenges and hardships, a cauldron of cultures that emerged into the beacon of hope that it is today.
DESIGN EVOLUTION
ELEMENTS OF AIKYA
The design concept took shape from the understanding of the history of Mumbai. A simple combination of balustrade arches, induced with the ideology of hand-in- hand and the symbol of Trinity-Knot threw light onto the development of the “Insert”.
